Instagram Automation for Influencers: Links, Deals, Affiliates
How Indian influencers can auto-send product and affiliate links to followers, use follow-before-link for freebies and keep brand-deal enquiries visible.
Once an Instagram account crosses a few thousand engaged followers, the DMs change. It is no longer just friends and fans. It's “link of that kurta?” under every outfit reel, “which mic do you use?” under every vlog, brand managers asking for your rate card, and PR agencies offering “barter collabs”. If you are a fashion, tech, food, travel or fitness influencer in India, all of that lands in the same inbox — and the brand deal that pays your rent can get buried under four hundred “link pls”.
Instagram automation for influencers is mostly about separating those streams: let a bot deliver links to followers instantly, and make sure brand enquiries reach you, fast and with the right details.
Stream 1: “Link pls” — the follower questions
These are the easiest wins. A follower wants the product you wore, used or reviewed. Use comment-to-DM automation with a caption like:
- “Comment LINK and I'll DM you everything I'm wearing.”
- “Comment SETUP for my full desk setup list.”
- “Comment RECIPE and the full recipe comes to your DMs.”
The commenter gets a public reply (“Sent! Check your DMs ✨” — rotate a few variations) and a DM with the links, as text links, buttons or product cards. Smart Matching catches “links?”, “link bhejo” and “can you share the link of the jacket” for the keyword “link”.
Keep a general “All posts” automation for older posts — perhaps sending your storefront or link page — while each new reel has its own. On a reel with its own automation, that one answers; nobody gets two DMs.
Affiliate links: be clear and be honest
Many Indian creators earn through affiliate programmes. Sending affiliate links by DM is fine, but follow the same disclosure rules you follow in captions. Indian advertising guidelines expect influencers to disclose paid and affiliate relationships clearly, so say it in the DM too:
“Here you go! 👇 Some of these are affiliate links — I may earn a small commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. Thanks for supporting my work 💛”
Buttons: Jacket · Sneakers · Sunglasses
Track Your Links shows how many people clicked each link from the DM. That is useful when you talk to brands, because you can say how many of your followers actually clicked, instead of just quoting reach.
Follow-before-link: use it, don't abuse it
The follow-before-link step asks people to follow you before the link is sent. It works well for freebies — a free preset pack, a workout PDF, a travel itinerary — because the follower gets something real in return. It works less well on shopping links, where a follower who wanted to buy right now may just leave. A sensible rule: follow-gate your freebies, not your affiliate links.
Stream 2: brand-deal enquiries — make them easy to find
Brand managers and agencies usually DM you directly rather than commenting. A first-DM automation can greet every new message with a simple menu:
“Hey! Thanks for the message 😊 What are you here for?”
Buttons: Product links · Collab / brand enquiry · Just saying hi
The “Collab” path can collect what you need to judge a deal:
“Love that! Please share the brand name, the campaign brief, deliverables (reels, stories, posts), timeline and budget. You can also share a phone number or email for my team. I personally reply to collab enquiries within 2 working days.”
Numbers shared here go to the Leads list with the Instagram username, so brand contacts don't get lost among fan messages. Set the first-DM automation to send on the first message only, so a brand manager who is already talking to you isn't sent the menu again.
Only promise a reply time you can keep. If you have a manager, put their contact in this message instead.
What you should never let a bot handle
- Your rates. Sending a fixed rate card automatically to every brand weakens your negotiation. Discuss money yourself.
- Accepting or declining a deal. Contracts, usage rights, exclusivity, payment terms — always you or your manager.
- Personal or sensitive messages. Fans going through something hard, or anything that sounds like harassment, need a human (or the Report button), not an auto reply.
- Controversy. If a post blows up for the wrong reasons, pause the automation on that post. A cheerful “Check your DMs ✨” under angry comments makes it worse.
Stories and AI replies
Story reply automation is perfect for “Reply 🔥 for the link” stories, which many influencers already do by hand. If you get the same factual questions every day — “which camera?”, “what's your height?”, “which city are you in?” — the optional AI Intent feature can answer from an FAQ you write. Keep it to facts you are happy to share publicly.
